Every day, we're to thank God in all things, no matter our circumstances (I Thessalonians 5:18). That's hard to do sometimes, as we all know. But please share with us when the broken bonds in your life begin to heal. Or just share a praise!

I wanted to share this small step in God's restoration process with my daughter. She de-friended me on Facebook, and it almost broke my heart. Last night, I saw I had an e-mail from Facebook. It was a request from my daughter to be her friend. I just burst into tears! Thank You, thank You, thank You, Lord!!!!!

Guess who's coming for dinner Sunday! Yes, my son! I texted him today and asked how he was feeling (because he has been sick) and told him I would cook some things over the weekend and send it to him. Well, he texted me back, saying he would come over Sunday for dinner. I'm nervous and excited at the same time. I almost fell on the floor when I saw his name on my phone. I'm on cloud nine!
 
SHERYL: Oh my goodness!! I'M GETTING CHILLS ALL OVER MY BODY AND I'M JUST BUSTING OUT IN A SMILE FOR YOU!! That's how it started for Patrick and me!!! I'm so happy for you! Thank you, Lord!

My story

In 2002, I ended my first marriage and moved into another home with my daughter. My son stayed with his father. Deeply hurt by the divorce, he didn't speak to me for two and a half years. Desperate to reconnect, I tried everything to reach out to him. My son refused my efforts. In December 2004, our relationship began to heal. By the time he graduated from high school in May 2005, we were mother and son again. In 2009, three hurting moms read a post I'd left on WritersWeekly.com in 2003 when I was so needing to talk to someone who understood my pain. Their letters inspired me to write–with my son's permission–our story for Guideposts magazine. The article, "Mom Interrupted," was published in November 2010. Several months later, one of those three mothers–after she asked if she could share our Guideposts story with other hurting parents–inspired me to start this ministry.
